WW: My First Horse Shows

I ran across some old pictures! These are some of my very first schooling shows on Shawnee, my dad's old horse. He was a 15.3h arabian x quarter horse cross and he was an absolute saint.

First show, I was ten years old here, turning eleven the next
month. That saddle was the worst!

Same show as above

This was later that year, I won a bunch of perpetual trophies
and then the show stopped happening so I kept them! My mom
says that this show made me think I was way too good lol

Third show I think, it was the following spring so I was eleven

Bonus picture- I was older here, maybe 14-15, for some reason
we brought Shawnee to our house and I got to sit on him in the
front yard! Fun fact, this house is now worth 2.3 million dollars,
it is a typical suburban 3br/2ba but it's located in the bay area
soooo yeah.

Shawnee in the pasture where my parents kept their horses before
they bought the ranch (and sold the above house for much less
than it is currently worth). He died in 2013 at 36 years old I think.

  3. RIP Tiedown! I used to go there all the time just to browse and pick up the free magazines, lol. And occasionally buy stuff, when I wasn't mailing in orders from the Stateline Tack catalog! We are lucky we still have the town ring at least, I've taken Cupid there for some off-property schooling.
Shawnee sounds like an awesome horse, and super cute. I never got to take my horse home (my parents were not into horses) but we did ride down to Gunn HS!

    1. I know! I used to work at Blue Horse, which is what Tiedown became. I haven't been to Los Altos in a while so I don't know if they still exist. And I totally taught at the town ring a bunch about 10ish years ago, haven't been back there since but I'm glad it's still around.

    2. Blue Horse closed about 2 years ago. I don't go there often anymore, but downtown Los Altos has changed a lot!! I went to LAHS, class of 2000 :)

    3. Aww that's too bad! I know they changed locations a while back but now I'm sad they're closed. My horses were in LAH (Westwind barn and a private barn nearby) but I grew up in Cupertino :)

    1. I know! I love looking back at them remembering how important each one seemed at the time and then now I get them so mixed up.

    2. I used to have a little notebook (probably Lisa Frank) I would write in notes about each class. It's long gone now though.
