First show, I was ten years old here, turning eleven the next month. That saddle was the worst!

Same show as above

This was later that year, I won a bunch of perpetual trophies and then the show stopped happening so I kept them! My mom says that this show made me think I was way too good lol

Third show I think, it was the following spring so I was eleven
Shawnee in the pasture where my parents kept their horses before they bought the ranch (and sold the above house for much less than it is currently worth). He died in 2013 at 36 years old I think.

Awww, what a cute pony! Also damn that's a lot of ribbons/trophies.
ReplyDeleteIt was not good for an eleven year old to earn all those lol
DeleteBringing your horse home is like a dream come true :D
ReplyDeleteI know!! It was so cool, I took the neighbor kids for rides around the yard.
DeleteRIP Tiedown! I used to go there all the time just to browse and pick up the free magazines, lol. And occasionally buy stuff, when I wasn't mailing in orders from the Stateline Tack catalog! We are lucky we still have the town ring at least, I've taken Cupid there for some off-property schooling.
ReplyDeleteShawnee sounds like an awesome horse, and super cute. I never got to take my horse home (my parents were not into horses) but we did ride down to Gunn HS!
I know! I used to work at Blue Horse, which is what Tiedown became. I haven't been to Los Altos in a while so I don't know if they still exist. And I totally taught at the town ring a bunch about 10ish years ago, haven't been back there since but I'm glad it's still around.
DeleteBlue Horse closed about 2 years ago. I don't go there often anymore, but downtown Los Altos has changed a lot!! I went to LAHS, class of 2000 :)
DeleteAww that's too bad! I know they changed locations a while back but now I'm sad they're closed. My horses were in LAH (Westwind barn and a private barn nearby) but I grew up in Cupertino :)
Deleteoh man I love old show photos!!
ReplyDeleteI know! I love looking back at them remembering how important each one seemed at the time and then now I get them so mixed up.
DeleteI used to have a little notebook (probably Lisa Frank) I would write in notes about each class. It's long gone now though.
