My name is Megan and I live in the bay area in California. I currently work in tech and was previously a dressage trainer. I currently ride dressage and have been dabbling into a return to eventing.
I have two wonderful dressage horses. One is my long time heart horse, Rico, a twenty-six year old Holsteiner gelding, who I have had since 2005. The other is my current competition horse, TC, an eleven year old Friesian Sporthorse who I bought in 2015.
Rico and I earned our medals together and finished our USDF Gold Medal in 2014. Rico is now happily retired in a lush green pasture where he enjoys a lot of attention and occasional bareback rides down the road and back.
After Rico's retirement in late 2014, I began working with a three year old Oldenburg x Friesian gelding named TC. I bought him in September of 2015. Currently, TC is competing at Third level with scores to 70%, he's won All Breeds at Training and First level with scores into the mid 70s. My long term goals with TC are to get him to the FEI levels and see if he has what it takes to be my CDI horse.
I'm a USDF Bronze, Silver, and Gold Medalist with scores to 65% at the Grand Prix level. I grew up riding in the United States Pony Club and graduated as an "A" Dressage rated member in 2010. I was the fourth person in the country to earn this rating. I've also begun the USDF L Program and had plans to continue into subsequent judging programs, but the pandemic has delayed these plans for me.
I was a dressage trainer for years, before deciding that it wasn't for me and heading off to grad school. I still love teaching though and teach regular clinics as well as remote lessons in my spare time. My students have shown through the Prix St George level, earning Bronze and Silver medals and have also been successful in pony club, earning HA ratings and B-Dressage certifications.
This blog is primarily designed as a riding journal (currently featuring TC at Third Level, but 2012-2014 was focused on Rico at the FEI levels through Grand Prix). Welcome!
