Enjoying the Time Change

Something weird happened this year. Something that has never happened before.

I don't hate the time change.

What. This makes no sense. Literally since I can remember I have HATED the time of year where we fall back and I get no time for evening rides that isn't in the dark. I've even bitched about it in this blog.

Especially after buying TC, who pretty much quotes Game of Thrones regularly, I've really despised this time of year.
The night is dark and full of terrors - TC last year

But not this year! Why?

Because my terrible commute and flexible work schedule means that I ride in the mornings when the traffic clogging kids are in school. Riding in the mornings has saved me over 30 minutes a day! First, the commute isn't as bad during odd hours, second, I tend to hurry a bit more at the barn before work, vs getting stuck taking my time after work. So barn time takes 1.5-2 hours rather than 2-2.5. And I'm in the car for 2 hours rather than 2.5 or more.

So this year I was actually looking FORWARD to the change because it means that I can wake up with the sun (vs before the sun) and then get out to the barn slightly later in the day when it's more likely to be warmer. I end up really hating the time change in the spring for those couple of months where the children are still in school so I have to ride in the morning. But even then the days are getting longer and it's getting warmer so it's not as big of a deal.

Really glad I never have to see this again if I
don't want to

I'm still not a fan of winter in general. It takes away TC's sweet brain and replaces it with a crazy one. But I do like that I don't have to ride in the dark unless I want to (and I do not).

So thanks, work, for being so flexible with the time I come in!

  1. Oh, winter brain. I know and "love" it! I'm heavily resenting the time change, which currently has the sun up only when I am at work (and my work isn't as cool and groovy as yours. Boo). I might be looking into a morning schedule like you so I can actually see the sun, though!

  2. Ughhhh flexible work hours might stop me from having the time change so much but unfortunately mine aren't *that* flexible. But yay that it's working so we'll for you and TC! ☺️

  5. Yes I'm feeling the same way! I don't necessarily hate the time change anymore, although with the sun setting earlier it was getting hard to ride after my 7-5 shift anyway so it's moot at this point lol

  6. I think I probably could do this but I hate mornings and all I want to do is stay in bed as long as possible haha
