In Perspective

I'm not up for a full post, so here's a short one with some media!

Thursday morning I got one last ride in before heading off to teach, then go out to dinner, then go to my brother's place to spend the night before getting up at 4:45 (4 hours of sleep ftw) to get to the airport and head to Vegas! It was an amazing weekend, but this blog isn't about that, so let's talk ponies.

For that Thursday ride, I managed to grab the video camera and a minion so ACTUALLY have some video of my horse and I.

He was a piece of shit in the round pen, bucking a lot and just being resistant to everything. No matter though, since he's been like that in the round pen but been better in the dressage court. Gratefully, the court was open, so we headed in.

Unfortunately, TC was pretty bad in there. He was super tense and kept shrieking his head off. Several times he thought about getting away from me, but didn't, which was nice, but it was still annoying. By the end of the ride I just... ugh. Why that day? Why the one day when I have someone to video me? I talked myself down and told myself that it really is the state of where we are- some days he's SUPER good and other days I feel like I'm just barely keeping the lid on. The fact that the lid stayed on without help from my trainer was huge. I only had to resort to desperate measures (a quite tight small circle) once, and I never once felt scared, only annoyed. So at least our bad days are manageable.

After putting the horse away and taking a deep breath, I watched the videos. I've compiled most of the footage here and I promise it's not cherry picked, though I didn't show the small circle.

my cat for that, she ran across the screen and I literally had like 20 minutes 

to edit it and get it up so I didn't watch the final version before it was on 

Facebook and I was waiting for a student at my first lesson. Woops. 

Hey I mean if that's what we look like on our bad days, I'll take it. He feels completely unrideable, and I can see all of our issues (hey I mean we haven't had a dressage lesson in over a year), but it's for sure not as bad as I thought it would be!
