Treat Yo Self

Taking a leaf out of L's book and doing a Treat Yo Self Tuesday. Because I actually bought horse-related things for once!

A week and a half ago (oh man, I have not been a good blogger recently), I zipped up to a tack sale and met some awesome bloggers/enablers to hang out and try not to buy things. I failed a little bit, but it wasn't as bad as it could be, according to Figure I basically SAVED money so go me.

Practicing my jumping position and auto release so I can
embarrass Kate even more

Tinglys

I had my eye on these at Mary's because my paddock boots are seriously falling apart at this point. I just got my new tall boots (keep reading) and while those are schooling boots, they won't fit over my winter breeches + leggings + 2 pairs of socks clothing choices, so I'm stuck with the disintegrating paddock boots for the rest of the muddy season. Throwing these tinglies on over them will really help when I'm having to hand walk in the mud before getting on. I want to try riding another horse in them first though, TC is not the horse I want to try any new stuff on.

No Bows

I grabbed a pair of these because I can't find good no bows anymore! And TC destroys wraps, so buying them second hand makes me feel better about putting them on him. Olivia found some old wrap savers that I was thinking about googling, but then she holds them up and right after asking whether I thought they'd work, points out that they were broken lol. I guess they don't work. Will not be buying, but will be buying some used wraps any time I see them.

Gray Polos

I used these later that day when TC was so good and I'm fairly certain that they are magic polo wraps (less than 24 hours later, he stomped on my foot while NOT wearing them). My colors tend to be on the navy/gray/silver spectrum so finding gray polo wraps for real cheap was great!

Love them and my plaid breeches! And the horse
I'm on too :)
Dressage Whip

I thought I had missed the whips, but M saw one and we ran back to get it! My super awesome sparkly whip that I got at horse expo broke recently (even though I found out later that it was slightly too long = illegal) so I needed a new one. There was a blue one that I grabbed, which is exciting, see above about my slow gathering of blue things. I like being color coordinated but am always reluctant to replace things that don't need replacing.

Dressage Pad

Fig and I were talking about how unfortunate it was that there weren't enough obnoxious saddle pads for us. BUT I did find a purple dressage pad and snatched it up. It was old and faded, but it will fit right in with my other old and faded pads. Excellent.

I loff them

I managed to get out unscathed for the most part- all of that stuff added up to about twenty dollars! Other than what is listed above, I had found a pair of tall boots that I was swaying pretty heavily on. They fit well enough (and were Ariats so were actually tall enough, yay), and were a SUPER good deal. But I just couldn't do it. They didn't fit perfectly, and even though they were a good deal, a good deal still requires spending money. Aaaaand I had finally gotten my Volants!

As noted in my post about San Diego, I had fallen in love with a pair of Volants at Mary's and then bit the bullet and bought them at their tent sale a couple weeks later. I received them the day that I hurt my foot, so couldn't manage to shove my right foot into them for quite a bit. Now that I have I can safely say that I LOVE them. They were a bit more than I wanted to spend, but I haven't had new tall boots in maybe twelve years. They fit perfectly and I was assured by the person helping me at Mary's that they'd last quite a while.

I managed to shove them on again this weekend (so painful omg, not because of the boots, they're so comfortable) and ride Rico down the road in them. I tacked him up to see how they would feel in stirrups and to see if my foot would be okay putting weight in a stirrup. They felt great in the stirrups given how broken in they are (they are not) but alas, I'm only at about half capacity for weight in stirrups.

  2. I still say you should have bought those boots, but good for you having actual impulse control.
