On my second day riding him ever, I had a video taken. It wasn't the world's prettiest video, so at the time I was not about to throw it out for the internet for all to see. But now that he for sure hasn't stayed this outrageously green. Here you go:

And I wish that I had a more recent one! My plan was to get and post a recent video at the end here maybe from this weekend or last, but with being stuck in the covered, not having access to a videographer, and the fact that my animal has a busted foot, no new video. If he's sound and legged up for Christmas, I'll be getting one then!
He IS doing better, a piece of his frog came off so I'm hoping that this afternoon my farrier can dig around a bit and find something. He's sound at the walk now so I took him on a walk last night and then we had a long conversation about picking up feet. He's decided that the only way he can pick up his foot is by knocking me over. Also picking up feet is optional, sometimes it's best to lean into me and pick up the other foot instead. Luckily we both came to the same conclusion after our talk, that not picking up feet is not an option and that life is easier for everyone when ponies don't knock me over.
Depending on how things go today with the farrier, I'm going to get him into the covered arena this weekend and do some ground work to get the brain working again. Unless this storm blows away the cover on the covered arena.
He's so floaty and so dreamy! Love how much progress you've made in the time you've been riding him - I bet this next year will progress even faster!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love seeing the contrast. Except that he was so much flashier in March than in September. But in September he's actually going correctly and is relaxed so I'll take it. Barbi didn't want me to push for fancy just yet.

ReplyDeleteThere was much optional steering at the beginning, and actually some of it still remains. One day we will have reliable steering!! I love his tail, I didn't like it at all before I had control over it, but I cut it short and actually have the time to brush it out a lot so it stays much nicer.

ReplyDeletePenn can give TC some canter lessons! I do love his trot, I do NOT look forward to sitting it. I'm glad I've been doing some sitting now, even though my plan was not to sit it for another year. Sometimes bad behavior warrants sitting trot lol
