In this post I present: winter is the worst

Gross, why
D1 Session
This session is in mid-March and it's in California! I can drive there! The purpose of this session is to help us learn about Part 2 and begin the actual process of judging.
D2 Session
This session is at the end of May in Colorado, so that will be fun. This is essentially a full run-through of our final exam.
Final Exam
This session is in California again and it's at the end of July. The final exam consists of a written test, an oral test, and a practical judging exam.

Yep
I'm required to bring a scribe to all three sessions, and Nicole has been assigned this role (she says she consents, don't worry). Nicole has great scribe experience, excellent handwriting (seriously, it's incredible), agreed to be flown around the western US with me, is HILARIOUS so will make sure I don't get too serious/crazy/nervous, and is also one of my good friends!
With two of three sessions being in California, this saves me a fair amount of money and time. Although the Colorado weekend means that I'm missing what might be a once in a lifetime concert... it's fine. Nicole and I will go to a brewery or something to make up for it.

Me not wanting to get out of the warm car
I have a huge to do list. Airbnb, flights, rental cars, confirming with people to take care of TC, scheduling scribing and sitting (I already have two shows set up for scribing in the afternoons, maybe sitting in the morning, I need like 12 hours of each), and most importantly PRACTICING.
I'm currently making myself judge 3-4 tests a day, just out loud. I just need to get comfortable with it and even after just a few days of doing this (and forgetting to do it yesterday, woops), I feel way better about it all.

Can I come too just to be a groupie? It sounds like so much fun!
ReplyDeleteSorry, you don’t get to complain about winter. Nope. But if you want to trade locations let me know.
